      O'Hare International Airport (ORD), most often referred to as O'Hare Airport, Chicago O'Hare, or just O'Hare, is an international airport located on the far Northwest Side of Chicago, Illinois, 14 miles (23 km) northwest of the Loop business district, operated by the Chicago Department of Aviation with 7, acres. Airport System. Illinois’ central location has lent itself to being a hub for air travel. The state is home to approximately public/private airports with over 4, registered aircraft.

The Illinois system of airports supports more thanjobs with a combined payroll. The purpose of the IASP is to evaluate the performance and interaction of Illinois airports to understand their interrelationship and to identify the overall state airport system needs.

The IASP is intended to identify facility needs and compare existing IDOT funding structure to help guide decisions, evaluate policy changes, and educate those.

Aviation Services. The Illinois State Aviation System is one of the largest in the nation comprising more than individual landing facilities, public-use aviation landing facilities, and 11 airports that offer scheduled commercial air carrier service.

This is a list of airports in Illinois (a U.S. state), grouped by type and sorted by contains all public-use and military airports in the state.
